Custom Projects

At K & N Welding, we design and fabricate custom railings that blend structural integrity with artistic intent—working closely with museums, galleries, and exhibit designers to translate brand identity and curatorial vision into metalwork that complements and enhances the visitor experience. From initial concept sketches and material selection (steel, stainless, bronze, or powder-coated finishes) to prototyping, and site-specific installation, we tailor scale, patterns, textures, and finishes to match exhibit themes or institutional color palettes while meeting code and accessibility requirements. Our process includes collaborative review sessions, mockups for lighting and sightline considerations, and precision welding and finishing to ensure every railing is both a visual statement and a durable, safe barrier that integrates seamlessly with the architecture and narrative of the space.

Past Projects

Dr. Seuss Museum

K & N Welding Collaborated with the Art Director of the museum project through prototypes and consultations to create Railings and an archway for the tour bus entrance welcoming students upon their arrival and bidding farewell after the tour that captured the style of the original artist while providing functional Railings for the safety of the public

Springfield Planaterium

At the Springfield planetarium K & N Welding  brought in to create a railing that Incorporated stars , planets , moons , quasars , shooting stars and an antique brass rail top that had been in storage for many decades and also protected the public from the workings of the planet ball itself

Working together with the curator of the Wistariahurst museum K & N Welding was asked to provide a handicap railing that matched the metal art work of an antique interior  stairway pictured here with the staff that incorporated scroll work with progressively budding flowers that began with a closed bud at the beginning and ending with a fully open flower that also met code requirements for the safety of the public
